Many of you reading this can remember the days of the Emergency Broadcast System. During the middle of your television program or while listening to the radio, you would hear a loud beep. After which, a voice would echo the words, “This is a test. This station is conducting a test of the Emergency Broadcast System. This is only a test.”
Running from 1963–1997, the EBS was established for the President of the United States to communicate immediately with the American public in the event of war, the threat of war, or grave national crisis. Although the system was never used for a national emergency, it was activated more than 20,000 times between 1976–1996 to broadcast public messages and warnings of severe weather.
If you were anything like me, you hated that test. It always seemed to come on right in the middle of my favorite program or song on the radio. The interruption caused a few seconds of discomfort, and then it was back to regularly scheduled programming.
When God wants to activate our faith, the Divine sends us a test. These tests show up as difficulties at work, financial hardships, betrayals, broken marriages, and even death. The list could go on, but one thing I know for sure is; you will not know you have faith until it is tested.
The Bible says in Matthew 9:29, “According to your faith be it unto you.” Your faith is where God meets your natural with his super.
Your test will not come when the time is right, when your money is stacked high, or when you are in the best physical shape. Real faith is proven in the furnace of affliction, not on the cloud of good and plenty. Your confidence will always be tested in your weakness so you can know the power and magnitude of God’s strength.
God has planned something better for your life, but to claim it, you have to commit to it. You may have to go into seclusion, get rid of some friends, or even lose some things that mean a great deal to you. It may be lonely, but your faith will fortify, strengthen, and push you into a breakthrough.
“Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” (Hebrews 11:1) You may not be able to see or understand it but run on and see what the end will be. Remember: This is only a test.
