Make New Friends

When I was in college, I was the Queen of fast food. I know it may not seem like it when you look at me now, but I loved to go through a drive-thru to get my favorite dollar menu items. From burgers and fries, nuggets, and shakes, I knew exactly what I wanted at any one of my preferred spots.

During my Junior year of college, a documentary by Morgan Spurlock called “Super-Size Me,” came out. Chronicling the effects of eating McDonald’s every day for an entire month, Spurlock ate breakfast, lunch, and dinner out of the fast-food chain. If the server asked him, if he wanted to super-size his order, he would always answer with yes.

Over the month, Morgan not only gained a tremendous amount of weight, but his cholesterol levels were off the charts, his blood pressure was sky high, he had an onset of depression. His doctors stated that he would ultimately kill himself. I knew from that moment on that if it had a drive-thru, I was going to drive past it. I didn’t want to eat super-sized meals; I made a declaration to live a super-sized life.

God wants to bless your life supernaturally. Be it your finances, your relationships, or your businesses; God always has bigger in store for you. The problem is, you aim too low, seek less than favorable situations, and settle for mediocre outcomes. Fear has paralyzed you. No matter how big you are, the further you are from God, your problems always seem bigger.

In 1 Samuel 17, David is about to face Goliath. Compared to Goliath, David is a mere runt. Not a skilled man of war like the giant, David has a straightforward method to defeat this mammoth of a man. In verse 45, David says, “You come to me with a sword and with a spear, and with a javelin, but I come to you in the name of the Lord of host.” No matter the size, reputation, or history of your Goliath, you must begin to look at your problems with spiritual eyes.

When God is in the equation, the battle is no longer hard to fight. There is an assurance in knowing that you have insurance. You have a lifeline to a source that has all power, which makes you quite powerful. This week,  God is taking orders through his window of blessings. When asked if you want to super-size your order, the answer better be yes.
